HOW HAVE YOUR ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS
HELPED YOU?
Continued

The main condition I sought treatment for improved - 55%
More relaxed - 50%
Greater sense of well-being - 50%
More energy - 34%
Less pain - 32%
Improved sleep - 30%
Other symptoms improved - 25%
More in touch with my body - 22%
Motivated to initiate positive life changes - 18%
Other - 4%
(A note about this question: participants selected all that applied.
These responses add up to over 300% so participants averaged more
than 3 benefits each. Wow! The “main condition improved” was just 55%,
which may be because some people had multiple or no main conditions,
their main condition was something else on the list, it was too soon to tell or
they were satisfied with other benefits though main condition persisted, etc.)

Regarding other feedback…

RE-EVALUATION / EXTRA DISCUSSION TIME:
A couple of people remarked that they wished they had a bit of extra time for discussion at follow-up appointments. I agree that these may be helpful periodically, so I have changed the scheduling system to allow you to schedule an appointment with re-evaluation. These visits offer 10 extra minutes so that we can have a private discussion in my office before you start your treatment. Because of the extra time I need to block out of the schedule, these visits are offered at $30-50, sliding scale ($10 more than a regular follow-up).

COMMUNICATION & INFORMATION:
Several people asked for more information about acupuncture, herbs and cupping. One of the issues I sometimes run into is that I do not have extra time to discuss these issues when the schedule is busy - for this reason I do offer some paper handouts in the reception area with more information and
encourage you to read them.

HERBS vs. ACUPUNCTURE:
Please know that it is my number one goal to effectively treat your health condition, and I base my recommendations to you with this in mind. There are certain conditions that respond much better to herbs than to acupuncture alone, and there are other conditions in which herbs are unnecessary. As with any medicine, the treatment approach and outcomes will vary from person to person. I try to use my knowledge and best judgment in making recommendations on how to proceed with a course of treatment.

MUSIC:
Music is certainly a matter of personal preference. I try to choose tunes that I think are melodious yet subtle enough for people to snooze to. A few people asked that I mix it up more - I’m currently working on this. If you have an album at home that you think would be good for the clinic, please bring it in and I’ll download it and add it to the rotation! Also, if you’d prefer to listen to your own music, you are welcome to bring your own iPod.

HOURS:
Some people wished the clinic were open more hours or at different times. I intend to expand clinic hours in the future as the clinic grows, and will keep the most popular times voted for in mind when deciding what hours to add to the schedule.

TEMPERATURE:
A few people remarked that they became chilled during their treatment. The whole fourth floor is on the same thermostat, so the temperature must be kept at a level that is comfortable for all the other tenants and therefore is now consistently being set at 72 degrees. If you get chilled during your session, please let me know in advance and I will make sure you have a heat lamp and may be draped with towels or a blanket. In addition you are welcome and encouraged to bring something warm to drape over your lap if you wish.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE CLINIC SURVEY!
I am so grateful for all your responses - your suggestions and feedback were extremely valuable, and I was so touched by the positive comments that I received.

Warmly,
Justine Deutsch, Lic. Ac.
